Born in Lithuania in 1974, Kas grew up in a small town surrounded by nature and medieval historical landmarks. At a very young age, Kas discovered his passion for drawing and artistic crafts and in 1989 at the age of 15 he left home to attend college in the beautiful Lithuanian city Telsiai. After 5 years of studying, he graduated with a Bachelor degree in Fine Art. Shortly thereafter, Kas moved to the United States where he found his new home in New York City. He immediately fell in love with the “Big Apple,” realizing the city offered invaluable opportunities to a young, hungry artist. After a few years of watching underground tattooing in Brooklyn, and after New York City lifted its decades long ban on the art, Kas took an apprenticeship in a Greenwich village shop with the infamous tattoo artist, Alexander Mikhailin. In the years that followed, Kas completed his apprenticeship at Whatever Tattoo and ventured out on his own, working in a number of tattoo shops throughout the city. Life took Kas down a path that ultimately crossed with a well-known graffiti and tattoo artist, Seen – an introduction that ultimately led to Kas joining the Seen family in the Bronx.
After 5 great years at TATTOOSEEN, Kas decided to open his own tattoo studio in Brooklyn. At KASTTATTOO Art Studio, Kas enjoys all styles of tattoo, but specializes in custom highly detailed work, particularly realistic portraits, and black and gray style tattoos. Kas’s recognizable style includes large scale bio mechanical work, and the use of skull images. When he isn’t tattooing, he is creating something, painting or drawing flash.
He is also a dedicated family man, having become a father to a beautiful baby girl in 2009. His wife Anastasia also shares his passion for art and is an accomplished designer and painter. Her feminine touch in the shop contributes to the cool, friendly environment. By request, Anastasia is also available to design beautiful original work, ideal for female customers. While most of Kas’s work are original custom designs, flash is also available for interested customers. He works mostly by appointment but welcomes walk-ins when he is available. However, it is always best to call ahead to ensure that Kas can offer you the appropriate time and service to help you find or create a unique tattoo for you.
